You are His child and he wants you to experience abundant and eternal life. The Bible states, “I have come that you might have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” (John 10:10) God created us in His own image. He created you and knew all about you before you were even born! He did not make us robots. God gave us a will and a freedom of choice. He wanted us to be able to choose to love Him and obey Him. Unfortunately, we chose to disobey and thus our lives are spoiled by sin. Because of sin we have been cut off from God. Our sin causes a separation between us and our Creator. Picture a deep and wide canyon that there is no way to cross. The Bible declares, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23) And… “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) Over the centuries people have tried many ways to bridge that canyon and restore that connection to God, but all have failed. No bridge can cross that separation…none that is, except one…Jesus Christ! You see, God loves us very much. He wanted to provide a way for us to cross that canyon. So he sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to pay the penalty for our sin. “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8) However, it didn’t end with Christ’s death. For Christ rose from the dead after 3 days proving that He alone has the power over death. And by rising He restored the connection to God. “For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” (1 Peter 3:18) So God provides the only way…Jesus. But we must do something too. It’s not what you might think though. Remember, we can do nothing to restore the connection to God. We have to make a choice. We must accept what God is offering us. We must accept His gift of salvation. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) And…”That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9) You can make that choice right now and accept God’s gift and accept Jesus as your Savior. How? You need to sincerely believe the following: that I am a sinner, and thus separated from God that I am sorry for my sins and am willing to turn from them that Jesus paid the price for my sins by dying on the cross. By his payment God forgives me that Jesus indeed rose from the grave and has eternal life that I need Jesus as my Savior to bridge the canyon, connect me to God and give me eternal life. If you believe those things you may want to pray the following prayer. (It’s not the words - you can use your own words. It’s the heart God cares about. So just talk to Him. Tell him what you are feeling.) You can pray: Dear God, I know that I am a sinner in need of forgiveness. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for sending Jesus to pay the ultimate price for my sins. Jesus, I ask you to come into my heart and life now, and be my Lord and Savior. I want to trust you. Show me how you want me to live. In Jesus’ name. Amen. When you pray this prayer you begin a new wonderful life in Christ. You may not feel different right away.
